Multnomah County Preschool for All

We connect 3- and 4-year-olds in Multnomah County to free preschool. The number of children and families served grows each year. In 2030, all interested families will have access to free preschool. The lighting will help raise awareness for families to apply to Preschool for All between April 1-30.

Light The Night For Fallen Firefighters

We honor those firefighters who have lost their lives in service to their communities. We have almost 80 firefighters who have lost their lives in their service to the City of Portland and many others in our surrounding mutual aid partners that are a part of Multnomah County

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness

Local governments Multnomah County, the City of Portland and Metro are partnering with Indigenous community organizations and leaders to bring awareness to a critical epidemic that impacts Indigenous communities across our country, Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.

World Lupus Day Kaleidoscope Fighting Lupus

To mark World Lupus Day, Kaleidoscope Fighting Lupus lets up the Morrison Bridge to shine a light on the strength of those battling lupus, to remember those we have lost, and to stand in solidarity with lupus warriors in Portland and around the world.

A LEGACY OF LIGHTING PORTLAND’S BRIDGES

Nightlab was known as Willamette Light Brigade from 1988 – 2026 and has continually worked to enhance Portland’s nighttime identity, foster civic pride, and build community through light and art. The Bridge Lighting Program builds on decades of partnerships and public imagination around Portland’s most iconic structures. Explore the history of the bridges, learn how these projects came to life, and see how artful lighting continues to shape the city’s nighttime identity.

The Morrison Bridge Lighting Program is a program of Nightlab, a nonprofit organization that advances nighttime placemaking through light-based art. We light bridges, produce the Portland Winter Light Festival and utilize art, community and infrastructure to enhance Portland’s nighttime identity.
